Internet Safety

  • Never copy directly from the internet. Try to put into your own words.
  • You can copy and paste for research or study. Always acknowledge your sources.
  • Be wary when typing a web address or you could end up on an unsuitable website e.g. the Lego website.
  • Parents need to be aware of what their kid’s do online.
  • There are many programmes available to protect children from online predators, and to block unsuitable material. Although they are not 100% reliable.
  • Monitor the use of the computer; keep it somewhere where you can watch the use of it.
  • Never respond to anything threatening, never give out personal information, and always tell a parent about any scary conversation.
  • Paedophiles are common in chat rooms.
  • Being active in your child’s role in internet activities can help ensure they can enjoy the use of internet without being targeted with any potential dangers.
  • Do not download copyright music or software.
  • Take your kid seriously if he/she reports any uncomfortable online messages.
  • Share an email with your kid to monitor messages.
